Healed
I imagined Peter’s mother-in-law overflowing with joy, her arms lifted high in celebration after Jesus restored her body. Healing, for her, was more than physical restoration, it was liberation from a failing body towards the freedom of service, hospitality, and delight. I wonder what stories she carried as a mother, a mother-in-law, and perhaps even a disciple herself. Did she later travel with Peter and his wife? Did she join the wider circle following Jesus from town to town? I love imagining her laughter echoing through a crowded home where the smell of food prepared for disciples filled the air. Thank you to Jackie for allowing me to capture these same experiences and emotions through your embodiment of a healed and deaconing μαθήτρια.
