Laughter
When I imagine the women at the resurrection, I hear laughter before I hear words. I hear breathless joy, and amazement spilling over into delighted proclamation. These women became the first witnesses to the risen Christ, honored like midwives standing at the birth of a new kingdom. I love that it was women who were entrusted first with this holy news. Those who had remained closest to him in grief were now invited nearest to joy. I imagine them running down dusty roads unable to contain the wonder alive inside them. Like spiritual midwives, they carried resurrection hope of Jesus into the world. Thank you to Kim, Kelly, and Ange for teaching me the joy of sharing the resurrected Jesus with others.
