This self-portrait emerged after reading the manuscript of this book. Through the lives of these New Testament women I began to see Jesus more clearly. They show me the vastly different ways one can be a female follower of Christ. As I reflected on his relationships with these female disciples, my own identity was unveiled more deeply as a living μαθήτρια, or female disciple. Still learning to walk closely with the Rabbi, I can now see more clearly without a veil impeding my own sight.
